In a Post-Pandemic Pivot: PGH’s Endocrinology Division Gathers for Face-to-Face Planning

Ranillo Gamutan Jr., MD

After an eight-year hiatus, the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism of the Philippine General Hospital took a bold step back to in-person strategic planning from September 30 to October 1, 2023, at the Palazzo Antonio in Lipa City, Batangas headed by Dr. Gabriel Jasul Jr. and Dr. Ralph Jason Li.

This reunion marked a departure from the virtual norm that emerged during the pandemic era. The gathering proved invaluable, as consultants and fellows formed teams to tackle pivotal areas including service, research, training, and faculty development, as well as alumni involvement.

With a keen eye on the past and a vision for the future, the team reviewed previous plans and evaluated the current state of affairs. They charted a course for the division’s trajectory, highlighting a milestone event—the third post-graduate course slated for November 9, 2023, at the illustrious Manila Diamond Hotel.

After a day of intensive brainstorming, the division came together for a convivial evening, complete with a modest feast and spirited karaoke. The camaraderie extended into a series of impromptu stops to savor local cuisine and breathtaking scenery, rounding out a fruitful gathering.
