UP-PGH Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism
Since its establishment in 1955, the UP-PGH Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism continues to nurture competent and socially responsible fellows through its excellent training program with the ultimate purpose of rendering quality service to Filipino patients. 140 graduates, who are leaders in endocrine care, education and research, are presently serving their respective communities.
The section consultants guide the fellows-in-training in the proper diagnosis and management of pay and charity patients through weekly rounds and outpatient clinic visits. As a premier training institution, the section conducts weekly endocrine conferences and journal club sessions and twice monthly Endocrine-Nuclear Medicine conferences. The section also organizes quarterly multi-disciplinary conferences on pituitary cases and Diabetic Extremity Care Team (DECT) cases for improvement of patient services.
Furthermore, weekly endocrine clinics including Thyroid and Diabetes clinics, are held to cater to patients from all over the country. Dr. Lina Lantion-Ang personally attends the General Endocrine clinic, being held every first two Tuesdays of the month, to ensure that the fellows provide quality endocrine care to these patients. In partnership with the Pediatric Endocrinology, the fellows attend transition clinics for continuity of care of adolescent endocrine patients transitioning into adulthood. Through the Genetics section, the fellows are also able to handle cases of Osteogenesis Imperfecta and Mucopolysaccharidoses.
One of the major thrusts of the training program is research. The various research outputs of the fellows-in-training, through the guidance of the consultants, are being proudly presented and awarded in local and international conventions.
UP-PGH Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism is truly committed in the pursuit of excellence in this field.
